Volleyball Continues Road Trip, Drops One at Lake Michigan

The volleyball team visited their second opponent in the middle of a 3-game road stretch Thursday night, as they visited Lake Michigan College. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they fell in three sets to the Red Hawks, 25-10, 25-5, and 25-12. It was not due to lack of effort, however.

The Chargers, who already started the game down a player (and with only one setter available from the outset), saw two players exit during the second quarter, one with a concussion and the other with an ankle sprain. That included losing the only setter they had available to them. The shortage made for a very hectic game and several lineup changes throughout the contest.

Still, though, "the ladies fought hard and battled until the end," according to Head Coach Heaven Donovan. In just her second game back from injury, Sophomore outside hitter JCarla Harris played all around the floor for the first time since returning and had a few nice kills. Additionally for the first time this season, Freshman libero Brooke Schroeder had to play all over the floor as well, helping in whatever capacity she could.

The Chargers season will wrap up next weekend, as the play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Tuesday wraps up their stint on the road when they visit Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. Thursday is the final home match of the season for the ladies, as they play host to Kellogg Community College at the LifePlex in Plymouth, Indiana. Both matches are set to start at 6:30 p.m. Please come out and support the volleyball team one last time this season!
