For the second time in three weekends, the Marian Ancilla Volleyball team played in a 2-day showcase in Illinois, this time at South Suburban College. On Saturday, the first day of the event, the Chargers took on Oakton Community College and host South Suburban College, dropping the two matches 3-0 and 3-1, respectively. Below are some brief highlights of Saturday's action.

vs. Oakton (L 3-0; 18-25, 20-25, 10-25): Despite playing a morning game to begin their first action in two weeks, the Chargers battled to make the first two games close against a worthy opponent. The Owls play fast and make teams earn every point. Freshman Kaitlynn Kelderhouse led MUAC in hitting (.313.), while Sophomore Katelyn Bryan (.250) also had a nice outing.

vs. South Suburban (L 3-1; 9-25, 17-25, 32-30, 19-25): Essentially playing back-to-back matches with a shortened bench, due to injuries/illness, the Chargers were slow out of the gates against South Suburban. However, the last three sets they competed, winning the third set, 32-30. Freshman Torie Davis led the Chargers in hitting this time (.263), while Kaitlynn Kelderhouse posted 12 assists in the match. Sophomore Sarah Tepp stood out defensively with her 22 recorded digs.

Head Coach Heaven Donovan felt like this tournament was very productive, "this tournament showed the girls just how mental the game of volleyball can be, as talent can only get you so far. These opponents taught the girls to adapt to changing styles, and to play their opponent instead of themselves."
