Hosting the first of a four-game home stretch, the Marian Ancilla Volleyball team welcomed Grace College's Junior Varsity team to Plymouth Monday night. However, the road team wasn't so gracious, handing the Chargers a 3-0 defeat (23-25, 14-25, 14-25).
The Chargers came out and nearly won the first set behind good decision-making, but Grace fields a unique JV team, with six Seniors and a Junior among their ten rostered players. They were able to lean on that experience, adjust, and take the final two sets as well.
Sophomore Katelyn Bryan led Marian Ancilla in hitting (.308), while Freshman Kaitlynn Kelderhouse contributed 8 assists and 11 digs in the contest. Sophomore Brooke Schroeder was tops defensively, with just 4 errors in 28 serve-receive attempts, plus she added 21 digs in the match.
The Chargers now turn around immediately and host Glen Oaks Community College in an MCCAA conference clash tonight (Tuesday, 10/15). First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the LifePlex, so be sure to come out and support the ladies as they seek their first conference win of the year!!
