Thursday evening, the Marian University Ancilla Volleyball team traveled to Dowagiac, Michigan, to take on MCCAA Western Conference leading Southwestern Michigan College, who entered the contest 6-0 in MCCAA play. Despite falling in three sets, the Chargers played some of their best volleyball during the first and third sets, moving well, communicating, and forcing long rallies.
Freshmen Alex Sutherlin and Miranda Woodard led the way for the Chargers with 6 kills apiece, while Freshman Adalynn Garza contributed 5 kills of her own. Sophomore Kaitlynn Kelderhouse fielded 19 serves without an error and had 13 digs on the evening. Freshman Anna Christopher added 14 assists and 17 digs to her season totals, while Sutherlin added 10 digs and Garza put up 2 nice solo blocks in the contest.
The Chargers now have 6 matches remaining in their season, with just 3 being at home. Tuesday (10/14) they host Edison State in what is Pink Night! Please come out and support these ladies with your own pink apparel! On Tuesday, the 21st, they will host Lake Michigan College, then on Thursday, the 23rd, they will host Kalamazoo Valley for Sophomore Night! The Edison State match begins at 6:00p with the LMC and KV matches both beginning at 6:30p. Please come out and support these ladies, if you are able!!
