Like most teams this time of year, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team has its share of bumps & bruises. Already without Freshman Aaliyah Keil to begin the game Wednesday night, the Chargers lost Freshman Santana Eubanks just three minutes in to a recurring ankle sprain. Still, without two starters, they managed to outscore Lake Michigan 51-31 in the second half to earn their 18th victory of the season...an 85-49 final over Lake Michigan College. The MUAC women are now 18-2 on the season and 5-1 in MCCAA play.

The Chargers once again turned to defense, limiting the Red Hawks to just 23% shooting, while out-rebounding Lake Michigan, 46-25. Freshman Jadyn Harris (10 rebounds), Freshman Annika Davis (9 rebounds), and Freshman Ciara Bonner (7 rebounds) spearheaded the rebounding effort for Marian Ancilla.

Sophomore De'Mour Watson led all scorers with 23 points, including 11 of the team's first 13 points of the game. Davis joined Watson in double figures with 15 points, as did Sophomore Nasiya Gause with 12 points, and Sophomore Brooklynn Cooper, who scored a career-high 14 points in a reserve role.

The Chargers complete their first lap of conference play tomorrow, when they travel to Kellogg Community College. That game is scheduled to tip at 1:00 p.m., as the ladies will attempt to push their conference record to 6-1. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
