Wednesday evening, the Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team kept their hopes of an MCCAA Western Division Championship alive and well, as they took on the Southwestern Michigan Roadrunners in Dowagiac, Michigan, and pulled out a hard-fought, 54-51 triumph. The 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse has been tough on the Chargers over the last few years, but they overcame home court advantage to move to 7-1 in the conference (21-2 overall), while winning their 7th consecutive road game, dating back to mid-December.

Despite a lackluster performance from the charity stripe (16-35 on free throws), the Chargers made tosses when they needed to and shot an efficient 4-9 from behind the arc. They also managed to place four starters in double figures and limited themselves to 15 turnovers against a good defensive group in the Roadrunners.

Sophomore wing De'Mour Watson posted a double-double, as she scored 12 points and pulled down 14 rebounds on the evening. Sophomore guard Nasiya Gause led all Chargers with 15 points, while Freshmen Annika Davis (13 points) and Santana Eubanks (12 points) also scored in double digits. 6-3 Freshman post Jadyn Harris had one of her best games defensively, snagging 9 caroms, blocking 8 shots, and altering several more.

The Chargers continue their pursuit of an MCCAA Western Division Championship when they host Glen Oaks tomorrow, Saturday, at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., and tomorrow will be "Sophomore Day", celebrating the accomplishments our Sophomore players have contributed to the university over the past two years. Please come out and support the team, if you are able!!
