The Marian University Ancilla Women's Basketball team finished a tough weekend Saturday afternoon, as they lost at Grand Rapids Community College, 68-49. It was a bit of an odd weekend all the way around for the Chargers, as they had to move Wednesday's game (2/12/25) to Friday (2/14/25), then play back-to-back with their game at GRCC on Saturday (2/15/25), plus it was the first time this season they've endured an overnight trip.

As far as Saturday's game itself went, the Chargers once again had to struggle through a contest in which they shot poorly, knocking down just 17 of 69 shots (24.6%), including 4-27 (14.8%) from deep. On the plus side, they did collect 53 rebounds, 22 of which came at the offensive end, and they assisted on 10 of their 17 made baskets. In the end, their 20 turnovers didn't help matters either, and they fell to 8-3 in the Western Division, but they do remain in second place in the division.

It was a bit of a homecoming for Freshman forward Santana Eubanks, who graduated from East Kentwood High School about 15-20 minutes away. She made the most of it, standing out for the Chargers in the way of 16 points and 16 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive. Sophomore wing De'Mour Watson nearly pulled off a double-double of her own, scoring 9 points and snagging 10 caroms.

As for MUAC Head Coach Ryan Gould on the team's 0-2 road weekend, "playing on the road is always difficult, but when you don't shoot it well and you turn it over, that's definitely not a great way to be successful. At the same time, while we would have liked to have won both games and be tied for first in our division at this point, we remain in second. We have three more regular season games remaining, and as long as we take care of business in those, we can head into the postseason in a good spot."

The Chargers are back at home Wednesday, at the LifePlex in Plymouth. They host Kalamazoo Valley with a tip time set for 5:30 p.m. Then, Saturday, they will make the short trip to Benton Harbor to take on Lake Michigan College. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
